AlgaEnergy, world leader in microalgae biotechnology, was invited to participate last Tuesday 5th of July in the second 'Circular Economy, key to economic reactivation' Meeting, organized by the leading economic information newspaper Expansión and the Construcía group. The event, inaugurated by the Minister for the Environment, Housing and Agriculture of the Community of Madrid, Paloma Martín, sought to highlight the role of the circular economy as a driver of development and as a lever for economic reactivation.
The event included three round table discussions that addressed different aspects related to the circular economy. In this framework, María Segura, Deputy General Manager of AlgaEnergy, participated in the round table 'Advancing towards circularity: innovation as a driver of change'. Moderated by Adelaida Sacristán, Director of Studies and Knowledge Management at Fundación Cotec, the panel also included the participation of representatives from the companies L'Oreal, Mahou San Miguel and Eco Intelligent Growth (EIG).
In this framework, experiences were shared on the participating companies' commitment to innovation and on the different business models, all of them based on a circular economy model. María Segura participated in the meeting to present the business model of the biotechnology company, which is sustainable and based on the circular economy thanks to the recovery of CO2 in biomass with application and positive impact in various sectors, including agriculture, by reducing the consumption of water and chemical fertilizers.
Segura also explained all the initiatives that are being carried out in order to promote awareness of climate change, have a positive impact on the environment and disseminate actions that can be implemented at the business level, including compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals, offsetting the carbon footprint through the EIC's Greenhouse Gas Program tool, adherence to initiatives that support environmental solutions through specific actions, and certification like B Corp, among others.
Following an extensive restructuring, AlgaEnergy is proud to partner with DE SANGOSSE Group through a soon to be finalized deal that will enable a concentrated focus on its agricultural markets. Previous business verticals including cosmetics, bioenergy, aquaculture and nutraceuticals will be discontinued, allowing a single-minded focus on solutions for agricultural markets, specifically agribiological inputs (biostimulants, biofertilizers and biocontrol).25 May, 2023
