Augusto Rodríguez-Villa, President of the biotechnology company, will continue as a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Bioindustry Association (AseBio).
AlgaEnergy, the world's leading company in microalgae biotechnology, will continue to be part of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Bioindustry Association (AseBio), an entity that represents the interests of more than 280 companies, associations, foundations, universities and research centers that carry out activities in the field of biotechnology in Spain. This has been decided by the AseBio General Assembly, held this Tuesday 14th of December in Madrid. Augusto Rodríguez-Villa, President of AlgaEnergy, will represent the company on the Board of Directors of AseBio
The associates have chosen for the second consecutive time Ana Polanco, Head of Operations Europe of Merck Spain, to assume the presidency of AseBio, while Belén Barreiro, General Director of Ingenasa, Elena Rivas, General Director of A4Cell, and Javier Terriente, CSO of Zeclinics will be the Vice Presidents.
Regarding the re-election of AlgaEnergy to be part of the Board of Directors, Rodríguez-Villa has indicated that "it is an honor for us to continue carrying out this responsibility and, from that privileged position, we will have the opportunity to analyze and influence in the new challenges that the bio-companies are going to face, as a result of the unprecedented crisis caused by COVID-19. We are therefore facing a new world order, in which biotechnology will have a clear role in the generation of a multitude of efficient and environmentally friendly products and services."
As AseBio points out, the objectives of the new presidency are to "continue to increase public recognition of biotechnology in society and the public agenda and establish strong points between the public and private sectors". The new president has also highlighted "the strong will to seek the most appropriate mechanisms to channel public funds to R&I business projects, promote talent and support entrepreneurship", she added.
